A POEM FOR A DEAR FRIEND

INSTEAD

She wanted love, the heartfelt kind.

Instead she got lust.

She wanted kindness, a soulmate to find.

Instead she got mistrust.

She wanted to be happy and be someone’s life.

Instead she was used.

She wanted to be a mother and wife.

Instead she was abused.

She wanted to give up and die.

Instead she reached for God above.

She wanted a man’s love to lift her to the sky.

Instead she received the best of all, God’s undying love.
