I GOT AT LEAST ONE OF THEM..........

yep, i am back again today.............i had to come back to town to cash my check, so decided to stop by and run off some things from microsoft word.

i went to my work to pick up my paycheck and was elated........a word i don't often use in the same sentence with anything pertaining to work.  not only did i have 5 hours more than i thought i had, but i had gotten a raise.............well, sorta, lol.  that is if you call 16 cents an hour a raise, lol.  when i started with the company, i never got my very first raise, which was a whole 25 cents.  for the last 3.5 years i have been asking our new general manager why i didn't get it and for him to submit it for me.  all i ever got in response was:  blame it on the previous general manager.  she never turned in an appraisal form.  sheeeeesh.........i don't care why it wasn't done then, i want it done NOW!!!  well about 2 months ago, i was called into the office and told to fill out another form, as the office manager lost the first one.  it was a form requesting the original 25 cent raise.  i filled out the info and signed it, and here i sit, still waiting for it to kick in.  so when i got the raise in this paycheck, i was excited until i realized it was only for 16 cents, which means it is only my yearly raise.  but heck, i will take what i can get for now.  when i get that other raise, i will actually be making about what most people start off at.  sigh.................i need to find something else................HELP!!!

usually when i come to the library, i complain about the kids and cell phones that are making so much noise.  well, not today..............i just had an elderly couple sit down next to me................i mean, probably in their 80's or more, and they are talking out loud (probably because they have trouble hearing).  sigh...........why me??!!

i have an update on the kitties...........when i went in the kitchen to fix some cereal i looked out my back window and on the lower roof (over the entryway to my housemate's apartment), snuggled together against the drainpipe, were two of my babies, ditto and gray.  i looked on the porch and there was rocky.  so i guess that day old hamburger meat i fried up for them last night and put out brought them all back home; all except mama kitty, blacky, oreo and whitey.  of course, that bunch could have snuck back in during the night.  rocky is the prettiest, and is as cross-eyed as he/she can be.  typical siamese, lol. 

i have changed my kitty's diet to iams indoor and she doesn't like me much.  to help her lose weight, i have to feed her 1/4 cup in the morning and 1/4 cup in the evening.  she is used to having a kitty smorgasbord, with the container being open for her pleasure and convenience all day long.  now she meows loudly for me to FEED HER!!!  i know how she feels though, having had to diet myself in the past.  i meowed a lot too, lol.

i am going by the salvation army to see my friend Polly and take her a bracelet for her birthday.  i guess i need to get up from here and get busy.  i was going to get up at 8 am and head out to run all my errands, but kept hitting the snooze button till almost noon.  i DO love to sleep.

hopefully i will be able to get home access to the internet and won't have to come here to my old hometown to the library.  my home wifi isn't working at all since the big thunderstorm 2 months ago.  i think it hit a tower, but who knows.  i am getting someone to come look at it that would be able to tell me what i need to do.  for free, lol.

RAIN RAIN RAIN

ok, georgia has been in a severe drought...........so we began praying and hoping for rain.  and we have been getting it.  but i guess we were so dry, it doesn't seem to be doing much.  as i sit here in the library typing and reading, the t-storms are brewing outside.  thus, i will be drenched on my way out.......but hey, i don't care.  it is wet.  i can roll the windows down in my car and let the warm wet air hit me and cool me down.

i have worked steadily since last i wrote.  i used to get 11 hours a week.........now i am working close to 11 days in a row without a day off.  NOT COMPLAINING THOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!  the bills are finally getting paid.  i got my power bill today for the month of august..................YIKES!!!  my share........yes "MY SHARE" was $96!  my housemate's share was $83.  i keep 2 window ac units going mostly 24/7, as well as 2 fans, one an oscillating fan, the other a box fan.  plus i am up late nights watching tv and cooking, lights on.........so i am sure with the heat we have had, the bill is high.  i was expecting it to be at least that much or more.

the wild bunch isn't a bunch any more.  i never see mama kitty.  blacky comes around every once in a while.  whitey hasn't been seen lately.  rocky has more or less moved on, as well as gray, with an occasional visit on the back stairway.  ditto comes around all the time, so i guess he/she is expecting food and water.  i have stopped feeding them because they weren't coming around and the food sat there and got ants in it, then no one wanted to eat it.  so if i see them on the back porch, i will put something out then, but no regular feedings.  they are all old enough now to fend for themselves, catching mice, birds, etc.  in fact, i have a funny story to relate.

the other morning i was getting up to get ready for work (yes, i said morning and work in the same sentence.....i had to be at work at 10 am, lol).  i was in the kitchen fixing some toast and looked out my back kitchen window and voila...........there was a white cat on the hot tin roof..........well, it wasn't hot yet, since it was only 10 am.  i think it was ditto.  it was running along the very tip of the roof, where there is a tin overlay keeping the rain out, and they were slapping at something that had gotten under the overlay, between the overlay and the roof.  i don't know if it was another cat, or if it was a mouse, bird, lizard or whatever, but it was so comical watching that white cat running back and forth on the roof slapping at something.  i was hoping it wouldn't slide off the roof and fall.  i guess it must have climbed a tree to get up there.  when i went back to put my dishes up, it was gone.  so much for my entertainment.

we have several new people at my work, some i really like, some i can deal with if i have to.  we have gone to computerized scheduling, which means everything is screwed up royally.  the first schedule that came out had me coming in an hour before we closed.  it also had me scheduled twice in the same day, overlapping.  so much for technology.  the general manager redid the schedules, and i ended up having a fantastic schedule.  i am getting almost 30 hours a week  now.  so i guess technology is great, when you tweak it a little.

i want to apologize to everyone for not visiting your journals and commenting, but i haven't had the time.  i haven't forgotten you..........i hope to start back to reading and commenting really soon.  i miss my internet friends.................

i have begun my crafts for the fall bazaars.  i am making crocheted floppy hats and berets, purses, afghans and cross stitched pieces.  i made a simple sampler for a girl i work with who got married last saturday.  i didn't completely finish it, but gave it to her anyway, framed, and told her when she returned from her honeymoon, i would complete it.  i need to make more jewelry (website:     http://hometown.aol.com/babyblueskye2002/ ).   

well, the storm has hit, and i am afraid i will lose what i have already typed if i don't close out now............so have a great weekend............i will be working.............sigh...............

JUST ME

i haven't been around in some time, due to my work schedule.  i am so tired, and the heat has been up in the 100's for the last few days and looks to continue in that pattern.  it really drains you.

the kitties are doing ok.  they are growing like weeds.  mama kitty is really thin again, which bothers me. 

my spider bite is still with me, but it isn't as bad as i first thought.  i have had it for almost two weeks now and it still drains that yucky stuff.  i keep boiling it out with peroxide and putting medication on it.  i think if it had been a brown recluse i would see more damage by now.

things have improved in my life, but because of my work schedule and the heat, i am not getting to enjoy the improvement.  I NEED A VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

florida........did someone say FLORIDA?????  mmmmmmmmm.........i can almost smell the ocean air...........feel the warm water licking at my bare feet...............oops.  i fell off my chair here at the library..................sheesh...........

anyway, thanks again to my readers for sticking with me.  hopefully the heat will let up and i won't feel the need to seek out dark air conditioned rooms for solace. 

I AM OFF THIS WEEKEND.................and i am going to SLEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!!!!

NOTHING MUCH TO REPORT

i haven't had much of a creative side lately.  i have been a bit down and the heat is killing us all.  i think i might have been bitten by a brown recluse spider.  i have a large black spot on my lower abdomen which is filled with black blood.  i know brown recluse spider venom usually destroys the flesh around the bite.  so far it hasn't done so, but i found what looked like a brown recluse coiled up dead next to the bed the next day after i found the bite.  i am watching it closely, but currently don't have the money or the insurance to have it seen to.  they are prevalent this year due to the heat.  it has been in the mid to upper 90's here the past few days.  and no promise of letting up.

the wild bunch is mad at me because i was too tired and feeling sickly to feed them the other night, so they did without.  so last night, only two came up to eat.  but i noticed that there were three of them laying on the back porch this morning, enjoying a cooler place.  maybe they will come back for their hot dogs tonight.  i think mama kitty is getting ready for another family.  sad, i know, but i cannot do anything about it.  i wish i could have her fixed.

there is a lot going on in my life right now that i cannot share with you, but please keep me in your prayers and thoughts. 

for those who read my earlier entry about michael and randy rhoads' grave site, i think i have fixed the problem with the pictures.  try going there again and let me know if they show up.  sorry for the inconvenience.

and once again, thanks to my die hard readers, as well as the new ones that i have managed to pick up along the way.  i don't get to the computer often enough these days and it does me good to see someone has come by and visited.

as to the newby, she is doing better as far as interfering with my life.  she is odd, but then so am i.  i helped her put her microwave on her shelving unit last night, and in the process i guess i was speaking too loudly and she admonished me to "not yell".  of course, i wasn't yelling.........i am partially deaf in one ear and don't realize how loudly i am talking.  but..........she isn't the first to admonish me to stop talking too loudly.  it was just her way of doing it that surprised me.  also, i told her how the microwave had to be sitting to work properly without falling off, and she said no, that wasn't correct.  then she eventually saw it was correct, and admitted to being wrong.  i didn't gloat........i didn't......ok ok, maybe a little, on the inside. 

i have to work today, so better get out of this journal for now.
