To me the most important thing a person has is their honesty and integrity.  My kids already know this so my advice to them would be... never say or do behind a person's back what you wouldn't say or do infront of them.  NEVER!

Seems like in this day and time its so easy to be decieved by friends and just people in the world. I guess I would tell my children never decieve because you dont wnat to be decived and always carefully besure you do what God wants you to not what your peers make you think is okay. Lori

The biggest piece of advice I would give my two children is .. "no matter what, be happy...There is nothing more important than being happy, and noone should be in a situation where they aren't happy."

I always try to tell my little cousins, especially now since my uncle has passed away, to always try thier hardest, not to quit, and be the best that they can be. You don't have to get an A, you don't have to win, just as long as you gave all of your effort to do the best that YOU could do.

Good question!! Very thought provoking!
I have actually given this piece of advice to my husband but will pass it on to my kids when I have them.
Everything is an experience, you gain a little bit of knowledge from everything that happens, bad or good. You can learn from it.
I use this little tidbit on myself too. When my house burned down, it was an experience, I learned that physical things weren't as important as I previously had. When my husband lost his desperately needed job, I passed that tidbit and now he uses it on me!

The advice I tell my kids to always remember is...to treat others the way you want to be treated. I know thats sometimes hard, but its the best thing to do.

I encourage Eric to live like he was dying. This way he LOVES wholeheartedly, LAUGHS wholeheartedly, GIVES wholeheartedly and gives God all the Glory for his blessings Wholeheartedly.

Also, I encourage him to accomplish everything that he sets his mind to BEFORE marriage and kids (30 is a perfect age to marry and begin a family and you have more knowledge and have sown your oats and you can truly be the rock that a father needs to be for his family)

Always look forward, don't look back. Learn from your mistakes, and live without regret. :)

I would say to never take a family member for granted. You never know when they may not be here for you anymore.

My advice would be........Be true to yourself always! To not loose yourself while growing up, to not give so much of yourself away that there is nothing of you left. Fill your own soul FIRST!

i realize i'm probably disqualifying myself by having more than one answer :oh well:
#1 - always use condoms

#2 - don't run with scissors

#3 - never run with scissors while using a condom

I have one daughter. If I had only one thing to tell her...uhmmm. I would tell her to hold life as a very precious gift from God. We are only here for a short time. Life is so fragile, as people are too. Live today as if it were your last day-love,laugh,have compassion, have faith, have hope, have dreams,be honest, treat others as you would be treated and believe that GOD LOVES YOU and he has a plan for your life.

I would tell her more...but, I think that covers quit a bit.  :)

Well, I can't top his1desire's answer, that is truly the winner.  But if you asked me, and just me, it would be to respect your elders, cuz one day you will be old, and you'll need someone to change your diapers!  My children help out with my ailing grandparents, and complain everytime, and I tell them this...you should see their faces!

I don't have kids but recently my nephew, who has started high school, asked me how he could be popular with girls.  I told him to be confident enough to ask the girls to dance. I told him girls always go for confidence and for guys who rescue them from sitting alone at the dance.

It touched my heart when he asked me.  Both of his parents have died, and he's had to grow up so fast, and deal with much, too much, but he's been to 2 dances and the girls are calling!!!
